I'm thinking about how it is canon that Bruce, as Batman, sends a gift to Hal Jordan's niece for her birthdays, even when he was mad at him for the Parallax' stuff. It demonstrates that Bruce CARES about his teammates, enough to care about their family, even when he is not in good term with them he cares.
And, also, just imagine all these people that gets a gift from BATMAN for their birthday, every year. The Kent. All Oliver's kids. Wally and Donna. Bart, Kon and Cassie. Hal's niece doesn't even know his identity, so it doesn't stop him. All of them had been getting gifts for years!

[The Watchtower. The Flash is relaxing in a common area, sprawled chaotically across a couch and munching on a high-calorie protein bar. Green Lantern approaches from the side, pushing away Flash's legs so he can flop down beside him. The Flash quickly finishes his bar, then spitefully brings his feet back up to rest on Lantern's lap.]
Hal: I’m getting real sick of Spooky giving me heart attacks, man.
Barry: What happened to being “always vigilant”?
Hal: I am! It’s not my fault he’s the scariest dude alive!
Bruce: [Appearing out of nowhere] Just be grateful you haven’t dealt with my kids.
Hal: WHAT THE F—
Barry: Your kids?
Barry: I always thought they were more…
Barry: sociable
Bruce: [gives him a tiny grin, looking something between smug and amused]
Hal: Hang on, I feel like I missed a chapter — Spooky has kids???
Barry: Keep up, Lantern
Hal: You cannot in good conscience tell me to “keep up,” you’re literally a speedster—
Barry: So, wait — if you’re not the scariest guy alive, then who is?
Bruce:
Bruce: Depends on who you ask
—————————
[Cut to an Office-style confessional with all of The Batman’s sons. Each is interviewed in a different location, and required varying levels of convincing in order to participate.]
—————————
Dick: [Upside-down, in the middle of doing a workout on gymnastics rings. He wears a thoughtful expression as he holds a handstand, making it look effortless.]
Dick: The scariest one of us?
Dick: Well, I guess… probably Tim. His morals aren’t exactly... clear.
Dick: Not to mention the fact that he literally stalked us for years as an untrained, civilian child without anyone noticing.
Dick:
Dick: Actually, I’m pretty sure he still does.
—————————
Jason: [In his apartment, arms crossed and seated on a hideously outdated couch. There is flipped and scattered furniture all around him, and he holds close a copy of Pride and Prejudice. Its cover is spattered with blood.]
Jason: You really broke in just for this shit?
Jason: Fuckin’, me, obviously.
Jason:
Jason: But, if I had to pick someone else…
Jason: [Sighs]
Jason: [mumbling] Demon Brat.
—————————
Tim: [Sitting at a large desk in his office at WE, wearing an expensive suit. His tie is loose and his eyes are dark-rimmed, and papers are stacked all around him in a messy, yet organized fashion. He was woken up from a nap for this, despite the fact that a mug of coffee is sitting to his right and several discarded energy drinks can be seen behind him.]
Tim: I mean, I don’t think any of us are particularly scary anymore. Like, we all have similar skill sets and abilities, and there are contingencies for if anyone goes rogue.
Tim: [smirking] Plus, you don’t just stalk the “world’s greatest detectives” completely unnoticed and feel intimidated by them — I know way too much for that.
Tim: [sighs] So, if we’re going by my standards? Couldn’t tell ya. But if we go by sheer intimidation-factor to outsiders, then it’s probably Jason.
Tim: Like, sure, Batman has his whole schtick, but plenty of Gotham has been around the block by now and knows he won’t kill people. But the Red Hood? He made his debut with a duffle bag of severed heads.
Tim: [shrugs] I hate to say it, but that’s pretty badass.
—————————
Damian: [Sitting in a plush chair in Wayne Manor, looking poised. The fireplace is flickering picturesquely behind him, and Titus sits faithfully at his feet. The scene is incredibly photogenic compared to the others.]
Damian: Tt. What a pointless question to ask — the entire purpose of our training is to ensure we are all equally intimidating. But I suppose I will entertain the thought.
Damian: Grayson, as the heir to Batman’s mantle, is the obvious answer. He is highly skilled in combat, deductive reasoning, and, of course, acrobatics. He is confident, competent, and a strong leader.
Damian: [grinning smugly] Of course, even if this was not the case, it would still be an easy conclusion to reach, given his competition. Drake is weak and Todd is soft, therefore giving Richard the clear advantage.
—————————
Alfred: [Calmly preparing dinner, chopping vegetables with speed and precision. He is nonchalant and does not look up as he gives his response.]
Alfred: While I would be happy to entertain the question, I am afraid if I were to answer honestly, I would have to say none of them.
Alfred: [smirking faintly] The boys are all very well-accomplished, of course — but it is my opinion that the “scariest” one in the family cannot be anyone other than Miss Cassandra.
Alfred: After all, stealth is the key to startling one’s peers, and she has mastered it thoroughly.
—————————
—alternate response from Tim—
Tim: Oh, definitely Dick, but probably not for the reason people think.
Tim: Like, sure, he started before he hit double-digits, but I figured out who Batman was at that age, so it’s not really that impressive. And, yeah; original Boy Wonder, successor to Batman, Tamer of the Demon’s Heir— all great for the resume. But the real reason he’s the scariest?
Tim: [shudders]
Tim: He went to therapy.

Anyway, I think the worst thing Geoff Johns did to Hal's character is that he just made him boring. The fun thing about Hal is that he's the worst man to walk the earth. He's a trainwreck in the making. Every day he wakes up and thinks nothing and makes 20 awful decisions and messes up everything and goes to sleep content in a job well done and it's great. Hal is the Worst Man Ever™. He's a donkey in human form. By all means his personality and skillset makes him the perfect supervillain but he's a hero and he's imperfect and he claws himself back from the brink long after most people would've given up because that's who he is. That's at the core of his character. Even when he's below rock bottom, he never gives up, and god does he hit it, over and over again.
Johns just... erased all that complexity by making Hal the bestest greatest most precious lanterny lantern ever. Suddenly everyone loves him and treats parallax as just a 'hehe! Whoops!' and it sucks because if you take away the fact that Hal is a garbage human being he's just BORING. He's just a boring stereotypical stoic superhero. Who wants to read that! Who wants to read about Universe's Best Most Precious Greatest Man Gets Praised And Solves Every Problem And Is Never Wrong. Like at least when batman does it they try to give us a detective story. Usually it's not a good detective story but they at least try. Hal doesn't need to do detectiving. He can solve pretty much anything with the ring on his finger. He's invulnerable and powerful and perfect and let's be real, at this point he barely has a secret identity. There's nothing adding stakes to the story, not when Hal the best boy is here.
It's so fucking boring!! It's genuinely an injustice to his character. Hal's much more interesting when he makes every single bad decision, ever, and then has to dig himself out of the hole that he dug. That's someone I can root for. That's a character I can develop complex feelings about. If you just hand me the perfect being in creation I feel nothing. I'm already bored.

To everyone freaking out about this week's MAWS episode, I'm just going to say: They broke up in the 90's and it proved better for them in the long haul. Lois got the space to figure her shit out for herself while also realizing how much Clark meant to her on a purely personal level. Clark never stopped loving her or believing in her but also he wanted the best for her so he gave her that space. They figured their shit out. They found each other. They got married. Jimmy was Clark's Best Man. Also Clark got de-powered for a significant period of time and Hal Jordan became evil at this point but don't worry about that. Oh, also Lois got a whole arc where she got to go full Rambo to rescue Clark (still de-powered) on their honeymoon which was fucking hot as shit.
Here's Lois being fucking shredded on her way to rescue Clark btw:
Tumblr media
(also Clark got dosed with truth serum and said "i'm superman" while high off his ass but don't worry it all worked out).

I need someone to hear me out on a selkie!Hal AU with BatLantern and it's the classic silly mishaps of 'you left your blanket btw' and '..do you know what that actually is?'
Like just silly stuff instead of.. the usual sad stuff selkies go through– Besides non-human Hal Jordan goes hard and i need to yap to someone about it but my friends are probably tired of it already so yeah, LOL
Oh my god yes yes yes yes
Hal keeps his flight jacket on the first few times he visits with Bruce, who mistakes this as a temperature issue and adjusts the thermostat for him every time he comes around.
When Hal feels comfortable enough to take the coat off, he's still leaving it in his lap. That's fine! Maybe he just has a habit of forgetting it. Bruce certainly won't touch it since it seems to mean a lot to him.
But more time goes by. They get closer. More romantically involved. Bruce, being Bruce, eventually figures out exactly what that flight jacket is.
And he still won't touch it.
The one time it seems like Hal is going to forget it, having draped it over the back of a chair, Bruce quickly calls him over and passes it off with a smile and a kiss for the road.
And here's where it gets silly.
Because Hal knows what the jacket is. Obviously. It's his. Bruce knows what it is. Hal knows that Bruce knows what it is.
So why the fuck isn't he coveting it? Is he ugly? Is he not laying pipe well enough? Is Bruce seeing other selkies on the side!? Does he want him to stop coming around!? WHY WON'T YOU KEEP MY COAT YOU SON OF A BITCH —

Finally the last team for my au is introduced, Cass and her new friends!! Been waiting a while to post this but last week I was a bit under the weather. So I posted a bit earlier than usual this week.
Cass being part of a team means there are 5 kid teams (tho Dick's team are just about adults anyways), all the kids having their own friend group outside of the bat family was something I wanted to do. It took a lot of digging to find all available heroes that could not only fit into their age groups but also produce the character interactions that I wanted.
Cass was never really part of a 'teen titans' styled team of her own(well except for like two issues of Young Justice) tho she did occasionally interact with other young heroes. She would be part of (non-bat) teams sometimes, like the outsiders and currently Birds of Prey but not a kids team. Part of why is because she debuted as near adult (17) and also stuck mostly with the batfam. I also got the sense that Bruce wanted her to focus on her batgirl duties, and wouldn't want her to be distracted with having other hero friends.
Though circumstances are different in this au, and with Jason,Steph, and Tim having their teams, Babs gets the idea to get Cass a team of her own! Friends are important to have and Babs wants Cass to have the full benefits that friendship offers!
So here's the members of this team:
Top row- Natasha Irons (Steel, like her uncle), Ray Terrill (the Ray), Arisia Rrab (Green Lantern)
Middle row- Traci Thirteen, Lorena Marquez (Aquagirl), Cass Cain (Batgirl), Connor Hawke (Green Lantern), Cody Driscoll (Risk)
Bottom Row- Jenni Ognats (XS), Grace Choi
Also while not shown on this page, there's also Wendy Jones aka Windfall and Carrie Levine aka Red Wing. You'll see them down below in the other drawings.
Over time I'd like to get more into team along with their interactions with Cass but for now lets just concentrate on a few of them. Starting with the Lantern of the group, Arisia Rrab.
Tumblr media
Arisia is currently a Green Lantern in training, just like in canon her family has a history of becoming Lanterns. But Lanterns live dangerous lives and after the death of her parents Arisia was chosen by the ring to be next. Normally the corps don't induct children into their ranks, but Arisia is a special case. Since she just a trainee I decided to have her be mentored by Hal Jordan and John Stewart on Earth, similar to how Hal was trained by Sinestro. As for her sector, it's probably being watched by temporary Lanterns (maybe from the honor guard?)
Her training will probably last longer that Hal since Arisia is a kid and will need more guidance, also in my au the Guardians have a bit more rules regarding minors and more safeguards. So Hal and John try to take care of her and any accommodations she needs as a kid. Hal kinda hates the added responsibility, tho he's slowly learning to enjoy having a sidekick of his own. The other lanterns like to help out sometimes, with Katma being esp fond of her. Btw you know how right after crisis there were a bunch of lanterns living on earth and had this fancy house built, I think that's where I'm gonna put Arisia in as her living place. Like I said, Hal and John try to make sure she's still ok.
Also for added info, for John, he isn't a back up lantern like how he started out in canon. When he started out, there was only one lantern per sector but in the 2000s that got bumped up to two (earth is special and gets like a million lol). I'm just rewriting the rules in this au so that there's always been a 2 lantern per sector rule. He also started a bit earlier, not long after Hal.
Anyways, Arisia is now on earth experiencing earth culture and even attending school in Coast City, she loves learning and is focused on doing well in both school and GL training. She decided to join a kids team to get better experience in crime fighting and is enjoying making new friends. I wanted her with Cass because I thought Cass would benefit with having a mature, studious kid as a friend (Babs certainly thinks Arisia is a good influence on her) but also I'd think it would be funny if Cass does something profoundly weird and unhinged and Arisia simply assumes that all earthlings are like that ("oh, you just emptied my fridge while I was gone, I guess that's just normal on earth").
Also you can see up there that Arisia also has to deal with the other kid lanterns that are popping up, I've already posted about Rankorr and Miri. Miri is pretty annoying to Arisia and keeps trying to convert her to the violet lantern corps, Arisia tries to avoid her. She gets along a bit better with Rankorr but is a bit intimidated by him. You can also see that there's a Blue Lantern (Nicole Morrison) and a Yellow Lantern (Nax). I'll probably talk about them another time, suffice to say that Arisia seems to have been given the mission to keep an eye on these other young lanterns and see what exactly their up too.
Also I'm just gonna get this outta the way, I'm not aging up Arisia nor am I gonna her and Hal get romantically involved. Not even gonna elude to it, I'm just straight up ignoring all that. Arisia is a kid and staying that way, and Hal is just her loser mentor.
Now lets go on ahead to the speedster, Jenni Ognats aka XS.
Tumblr media
Just like in the comics Jenni is from the future, and is the granddaughter of Barry Allen aka the Flash. Atm I'm not entirely sure how her story goes because there a lot of time travel involved and time travel plotlines always confuse me. Lets just say while trying to train for the Legion of Super-Heroes (who are kids not teens btw) try-outs, she ends up going a little too fast and ends up in the 21st century. Barry and Iris (who've just gotten engaged) are shocked by Jenni's abrupt appearance but decide to take her in and take care of her while they try to figure out how to send her home.
Barry adores her and both of them get along pretty well since they seem to have similar temperaments. Jenni likes to trail after him and help sometimes with fighting crime, its great training for her future with the legion. Wally down there is a bit jealous of their great bond but feels a bit guilty over it since Jenni is very sweet and likes/respects Wally as well. At least she doesn't annoy him like the other kiddie speedsters.
Jenni starts off a bit timid and insecure in the comics so thats how she's starting off here too. Maybe being in a team with Cass with help her out, hanging with someone very confident (arrogant even) can inspire her to be more secure in herself. Jenni also gets along with Arisia as well, their is an easy camaraderie between them. Plus they both know they both have a time limit on this earth/time and are trying to enjoy their time here while they can.
Lets go on with the others, like Ray Terrill aka the Ray.
Tumblr media
Ray was one of the first members of the team I'd considered for Cass's team and thats because they share something in common. And thats a childhood kept in isolation, though it manifested differently. Ray lived almost his entire life (until age 18) indoors because his 'father' (actually uncle) told him sunlight would kill him. It was actually the opposite since Ray has the power of light. I suppose in this au his uncle died earlier so Ray discovers his powers sooner. Perhaps he also found his mother and maybe lives with her as well?
He and Cass tend to bond over their lack of interaction with society and how it affected them, honestly I don't think it got the focus it should have gotten in Ray's own comic. Being raised like that and only having the tv as your window into the outside world, Ray should be a much weirder and awkward person. But while Cass didn't even have television, she understands Ray few others can. I kinda want to make Ray a bit of a 'right-hand' man to Cass, and at first I even played with the idea of having Ray crush on Cass a bit. I dropped that when I learned he was gay in rebirth, tho I think having their connection be platonic makes it work better.
Here's some doodles of this team, along with a bonus Koryak.
Tumblr media
Look at Ray and Cass looking cool, as they should be!
The girl in pink in the bottom row was me trying to figure out how to draw Natasha Irons, just trying to play around with color pallets and hair styles. Also looks like Lorena and Koryak seem rather interested in each other.
Speaking of Lorena aka Aquagirl, lets go into her.
Tumblr media
I say Aquagirl but since Tula is currently using that maybe I should have her be Aqualass (should I make Koryak aquaboy? eh). Her being here basically means the Sub Diego incident occurred, I thought of her getting her powers another way but I liked that story line so I'm keeping it. She tends to split her time between Sub Diego and Atlantis and is currently being trained by Aquaman. Tula helps with training as well and is overjoyed at having her own mini sidekick.
Lorena, along with Ray, was one of the first members I put on the team and one reason is that I think that she and Cass would have a pretty good chemistry together. Kinda similar to what Cass and Steph had in the comics but certain vital differences. For one there's far less of power imbalance with Lorena being a meta, so Cass wouldn't see her as needing protection. This works on a social level as well, since not only in Lorena and Cass in different 'families', Lorena isn't outcasted like canon Steph.
Also, while I wouldn't call Steph insecure really, she had some baggage with how much better Cass was in hero work. Lorena doesn't really care about Cass's skill level, like at all, she treats Cass as an equal and expects the same in return. Cass kinda respects this in a way, and likes that someone just see her a someone 'regular'. Lorena is slowly teaching Cass to just chill out and hang out like regular kids do, which is one of the goals that Babs was aiming for.
In drawing I posted a while back, I had Babs and Tula meet and become friends, primarily so that they could arrange a 'playdate' for Lorena and Cass. Leading into the rest of the team overtime. Here's the first meeting between them actually:
Tumblr media
Lorena makes her splash into Cass's life, I wonder if Lorena will introduce Cass to actual mermaids.
Here's some extra doodles for the team.
Tumblr media
Up there is Carrie and Wendy, who I didn't put in that first drawing, no room. Carrie on the left is the youngest of the team and shows it. She's very naive and looks up to the others a lot esp Cass (she's so cool!! :D), hopefully she has a better fate than what she got in the comics.
Wendy on right was part of the outsiders, and before that a villain group called the Masters of Disasters. Since she's younger (in fact I deaged her by a year or two) she got rescued from her abusive sister and is now trying to become a hero. Batman recommended her to Babs who put her on the team. Having a evil family member and being forced to be evil is something Cass understands, tho Wendy is still a bit intimidated by her a bit. But I think they could learn to get along. Also look at Ray looking fancy, always thought his costume looked like a band/military outfit.
Later on I can get into the others but I'm still reading and refining what I want out of their interactions with Cass so thats for another time.
Here's a concept doodle of the first team line-up here.
Tumblr media
You can see that I put in Mia aka Cir-El as the super of the group, I thought that her being the 'daughter' of Superman it'd be funny to have her team up with Cass, the daughter of Batman. But I couldn't really make them click in my head and decided to go with Natasha as the super. I felt a bit bad cuz Mia was a fun little character but that's how it goes. Maybe she'll team up now and then as an ally of sorts.
And lastly, here's a group shot of the team after I finally settled on what I wanted the line-up to be! Here they are:
Tumblr media
Btw, I don't have a name for this team, like with Steph, but if anybody has any suggestions let me know! I kinda asked for help earlier with Steph's team but I didn't get a name that worked for me (maybe I'm just too picky). In exchanged, I can give you a free doodle of any character of your choice.
Well, hoped you liked all of that, take care!

u talked about hal’s brothers so i wanted to ask… what do u see his relationship with him? his mom? i remember he had a niece at one point, how do u think he acts around her? i’d love to know
HELLO POOKIE! <3
But anyways to answer it: Honestly it depends, Jack can be a bit.. well, based on some posts and fics he can be rough as hell on Hal but i think they mended that bridge. Now Jim is quite the opposite, they were strained but started talking more and fixed their relationship it was slow but it was all worth it(they be my favs), and yeah he has a niece! Her name is Helen Jordan and she has a brother named Jason Jordan! She is makes a appearance on Hal spectre's arc, since both her parents died, Hal became her guardian, and omg are they the most adorable duo! I still re-read those panels from how cute the interactions are
Now his mom, well, it depends too. His mom was quite the good mom, not perfect, but good she had a hard time raising 3 children on her own but she still loved them all equally. For some strange reason, i think some new comics depict her as abusive(?) or distant, when in reality she was one of Hal's biggest supporters despite feeling the fear and pain of him wanting to become a pilot like his deceased father, and well she was terrified that Hal would die just like his father and i can't blame her, grief can change you alot.
Thanks for the ask btw! <3
I am also open to chat about fic ideas or prompts :3

grabs the microphone....hello...everyone...I'd like to show you my pride and joy....Hal Jordan.
Btw don't mind how it looks, I'm still figuring out how to work Clip Studio Paint (VERYYY WEIRD). So these are test drawings yummyuymym
Tumblr media
Barry: "Heyyy <33" (While also doing the worst winks throughout history. Barry Allen CANNOT wink, only when he's acting cocky.)
Hal: "Bar, We've been dating for 5 years. Hiii <3" (Dear GODD he's so bad at flirting...I need him)
Tumblr media
This drawing is an example of Barry before getting with Hal. Iris showed him one of those extremely corny romance movies (I am such a fan of them and I have an entire list of those movies) and then he started daydreaming one day at a JL meeting because the members were talking about movies (they got off track and Bruce had to clear his throat to get their attention).
I also got reminded of the song 'Just Some Guy' from Dead End Paranormal Park and went WILD. You could guess where this is going.....looking over to HalBarry and grabs them

twofold. 1. The Lanterns show isn't just about Hal Jordan btw but are you looking forward to seeing it? 2. Emerald Twilight is just 3 issues though? how can that be a good story?
hi
The Lanterns show isn't just about Hal Jordan btw but are you looking forward to seeing it?
You're right about that sorry about that. I barely kept up with the project in the first place. I remember back when DC announced it years ago as part of their lineup but never bothered to check in because I had my doubts about the show taking off.
Am I looking forward to it...honestly for the past 5+ years I've been quite avoidant with Western adaptations moreso with projects that I either deeply liked it's source material or am aware of how good it is even if I never got around to reading/playing/watching (eg: Halo, The Witcher). The Green Lanterns are by far one of my favourite concepts in comic books and I always felt like they have so much to offer in terms of storytelling and visual storytelling yet rarely have I been impressed. I'm also worried in terms of budget. HBO is suffering from budget issues which were very apparent with HOTD where it effected it's storytelling (or maybe that's just my TG goggles on) I can't imagine it's a good idea to have another big budget show when they don't have the budget for one lol. I hope they don't spent time on earth that's so lame i'm sorry.
I'm a bit of a purist but idgaf when the source material is mediocre or "just alright" (The Boys, Umbrella Academy, a lot of anime lol, heartstopper, upcoming DMC anime)
For personal reasons Hal Jordan is one of my favourite characters in comic book so you can understand why I'm very hesitant to pick up the show. I'm very much pretending to ignore but I know curiosity will eventually have it's way (very much what happened with HOTD).
I kind of...tapped out of comic book adaptations for a while now lol and am very behind but it implies I care enough to keep up with DC/Marvel projects.
Emerald Twilight is just 3 issues though? how can that be a good story?
Good point but I meant more of a holistic view of Hal Jordan even if you take a non-chronological view (it's comic books, make your own canon) I think you'll end up with something worthwhile.
Obviously in the span of 3 issues him breaking down and becoming a villain is very very rushed but the overall arc, when combined with how great of hero Hal was (with a dash of being questionable human but not morally grey) him rising to the occasion and becoming the best GL from a shitty undermined planet to the greatest of villains has massive potential ... outside of comics lol.
